Protect in Pink

This week at school we are really pushing for breast cancer awareness. We are trying to get people to wear pink all days possible while we make more people aware of breast cancer in the fight to save the tatas. I do not have much pink in my wardrobe, but I know I will wear what I can. Today I went with dark wash flare jeans, a black scoop neck short sleeve sweater over a light pink lacy camisole. I wore black peep toe heels and a black embroidered scarf. I felt like I should keep it classy so I went with diamond stud earrings, and major pick ice ring, vintage watch, and fresh water pearls. I really like this outfit, it had just the right touch of pink, and I feel like it is very important to support any cause that benefits others and maybe even yourself in the long run.

Metallic Military

We had a workday Monday, so there is not a post for that day. I like to mix rustic colors with feminine aspects to outfits so I went with an army green flowy shirt with ruffle sleeves and metallic beading around the neck, flare jeans, a silver scarf, bronze moccasins, and my copper bracelet. Normally I do not like to mix golds and silvers, but in my opinion, rustic bronzes and grays really complement each other. The aged metallic and the army green stay in the same family, but with with ruffles and beading everything is lightened up a bit. It was rainy and yucky and humid outside, so this morning I wore my trench coat. It stayed with my classic military theme.

Red with Spirit

Another Spartan Friday! And Pep Club Pictures. Well for the Spartan Friday we were supposed to wear camo as we hunt the eagles. Well for starters I do not have any camo and we were supposed to wear red or black for pep club pictures. I went with red. I wore my red wool blazer with a back tank top under it, a pair of dark flare jeans and black heels. This was just another classic outfit. I do not think you can ever go wrong with a blazer, flare jeans, and heels. For accessories I wore a silver scarf and silver jewelry. I love showing spirit while knowing my outfit is fabulous. By the end of the day I did get a little warm in the wool blazer, but no biggy. All for the love of fashion.

Not-so-Grandma Sweater

I am like five days behind, I know. I have just been busy and my laptop's WiFi card is broke or something. So I am doing Thursday's blog today. Thursday I went with a light blue, black, and cream floral sweater. It is 3/4ths length sleeves button down v neck with a little gathering at the shoulders for volume. When I was actually buying the sweater an elderly lady come up and was looking at the same one, so I was iffy to buy it. I went with the risk, like I usually do, and it is one of my favorite sweaters. It comes a little low so I wore a black lacy camisole underneath, that is how I made it look right for my age. I wore it with a pair of dark wash boot cut jeans, and my newest black flats. I also wore a black embroidered scarf with fringe. I feel like this look had a timeless look and maybe I will wear it when I have aged.

Peaceful Purple

Today is October 20, 2010 and there was a message going around to wear purple today in respect for the six suicides committed because of homophobic abuse. I do not feel like anybody should have a reason to kill themselves and I know that if any of my many gay friends, especially Christian, did this I would be devastated. People should be able to be who they are without worrying about being judged or bullied. This is a fashion blog so I am going to stop there. Today in honor of these boys I wore a purple crow neck tunic with fringe coming off the neck. It is a little hard to describe but it is cute. I wore it with black skinny jeans tucked in over the knew black suede boots. I also wore a silver scarf because it just needed a little something more. I also wore silver jewelry and pulled my hair back in a bun. I thought about wearing an over sized leather cardigan with it, but I thought it would just be too much black. I probably would have worn it if I needed a quick change for a night outfit. One more note, not to be stereotypical, but some of the greatest fashion people out there are gay, who knows what we would be wearing if everybody was straight.

I'd Rather Go Naked

Over the weekend I got an addition to my wardrobe I was so excited about I could not stand it. It was a warmer day, but I would not be outside much anyways. I went with a cream faux fur crop vest today. Major, I know. I paired it with dark wash wide leg jeans, and a sea green 3/4th sleeve shirt with cream polka dots and basic black heels. I dressed it up with a fresh water pearl bracelet and diamond studs. I am in love with this outfit. Some chose to make fun of me, but all those who are in touch with the fashion world know this works. Right now there is a campaign against wearing real fur launched by PETA called I'd rather go naked than wear fur. It protests over the killing of animals for fur because they hurt so much in the process. I am not a huge PETA person and definitely not a vegetarian but this is one thing I will support. It is not like it looks that much different anyways. You can find out more at http://www.peta.org/.

Ren Fest Oops

So I forgot to do Thursday's blog for last week... Oops. We went to the Renassiance Festival on a field trip and it was utter chaos. First it is pouring down rain. Everything is outside. Second I cannot find my rainboots. Third when it was time to come home our bus would not start. Then I forget to do my blog. I was able to borrow my cousins rainboots, I really did not want to dirty up any flats or anything. I wore a pair of skinny jeans with the sparkly rainboots and my ren fest 'say hi to the bunny' tee, a saying from my favorite jugglers, the london broil. An oversized gray beanie, and gray trench. The most water proof jacket I own. It was not my cutest outfit but it is raining and I am going to be outside all day, what can you expect.

Finding the Right Cord

I wanted to bring out something new from my wardrobe to start the week off so I decided on a pair of forest green boot cut corduroys. I love these pants, they are so comfortable and cozy. I wore them with a charcoal gray v neck, silver scarf, and scrunch black booties. Monday morning it was cool so I wore a cropped wool double breasted coat. I wore my Nana's emerald ring and a vintage watch. I think it is funny that I love corduroy pants now and I remember when my mom would try and put them on me when I was young and I thought they were the wrost things ever made. They really were pretty bad then when they gathered at the top and had no tailoring whatsoever. Two sayings I think fashion lives by is everything repeats itself and we learn from our mistakes. When certain styles come back around, there are always some things that stay the same about the peice but other major improvments that fit our modernized lives. And no matter what fashion just keeps getting better and better.

Neon Friday

It is another Spartan Friday and we are wearing neon as we Stun the Salisbury Hornets. Whoa whoa whoa, neon? Who owns neon, not I. I had no idea how i would show my spirit this Friday until I remembered my one pair of neon pink socks. Well Friday morning I completely forgot it was Friday and I decided on a half sleeve blue sweater, imagine that, with a crow neck, wide jeans and black heels. At the last minute I remembered my neon socks. And I also wore my dad's spartan pride button. I went with silver jewelry. For the game I knew it would be practically below zero, well like 40 F, so I wanted to put on something warmer. I went with a pair of dark wash skinny jeans, a cream sweater, burgundy scarf and gloves, over sized multicolored beanie, brown leather multicolored embroidered boots, and my brown leather bomber jacket. I love love loved my outfit to the game and it will probably be in a future blog but I just had to write about it now. And I must say, Tori, Kara, Tara, and Hayley. you were all looking just precious as well. Love Y'all.

Feeling the Blues

I went with blue two days in a row. I did not even mean too. This is just something about bright blues that I love. I wore a button down loose scoop neck blue shirt layered over a black lacy camisole, dark wash wide leg jeans, black peep toe heels, and silver jewelry. This outfit had practically the same color scheme as yesterday's however I feel like they were nothing alike. Yet still fit my personality. That is the one thing I love about fashion, they are so many different ways you can go with it and continue being yourself. And let's face, people do make judgments before they talk to you or get to know you on the inside, no matter how much it is lectured not to do it. If I went to a school that had a uniform I do not know what I would do. Probably be an accessory obsessed maniac, like I am already not. Anyways, the moral of my blog is, be yourself, do not waste away opportunities to go crazy with an outfit or take risks, when you a old and wrinkly you may not have those opportunities.

The Royal Wear Silver

This morning I had a million and a half things to get together, camera, project, lunch, pocketbook, ect. I had once again not thought about what I was going to wear, and checking the temperature was the last thing I was worried about. I ended up wearing a pair of straight jeans, a royal blue basic v neck, with a silver scarf, a black members only jacket this morning, and silver gladiators. Who knew it would reach the upper 80s in October and break a record. Not me. But it did. After school I thought I would die. Wide jeans let some air in, straight jeans do not. Another reason I do not often wear them. I really did like this outfit though, especially to be so simple. Sometimes, you just have to take those leisure days. It is looking like they will be my whole week.  Oh I also wore silver jewelry. That could have been an easy guess though. I am not one to be know to mix my metals. Well I still have a million things to do so yes another short one.

Mustard Monday

It is the start of a new week, and hopefully a less stressful one. However it is not looking hopeful. I did not get my blog posted yesterday because I was up late finishing a project. Yuck. We are having a warm week so I did not want to wear anything I would get too hot in. I went with a thin button up mustard top layered over a faded green tank, with a thin gray braided belt. I wore a pair of basic jeans with gray embellish sandals. It was a pretty simple outfit, but I was on a time crunch. I think mustard is a risky color to go with, but it can definitely be pulled off with the right complementary colors and accessories. I also wore diamond studs and my copper bracelet. I have to admit, in an attempt for a cool outfit, I failed. I changed as soon as I got home. I am going to have cut this blog short so I can write today's about our record breaking temperature!

Bruise the Bulldogs

Spartan Friday! I thought it would never come, I think I had at least one test every single day this week. This Friday we traveled to Thomasville High School to Bruise the Bulldogs. We were supposed to wear black and blue. I went with a pretty casual outfit today, I was just so ready for this week to be done with. I wore a pair of basic dark wash boot cut jeans, a black scoop neck tee and a half sleeve over sized royal blue cardigan. I wore a silver and black braided belt around my shirt to accentuate the waist. It was pretty warm today so I just wore black sandals. I also dressed it up some with silver and sapphire jewelry and black and silver earrings. For the game it was cold and I would be on the field taking pictures for yearbook so I wore black flats and a black short double breasted wool coat. I found the coat brand new at a little consignment store in China Grove and I have to say it is another one of those pieces that are ideal for any wardrobe. Hopefully next week will be a better one.

Green Jeans

Last night I had to stay with my grandpa to help him out if he needed anything. Before I went to his house I had to make sure I had my outfit all figured out since I would not have my whole closet. I wanted to keep it pretty simple so I would not have to worry about any mishaps. I went with a pair of faded forest green wide leg jeans and a small floral print shirt. It was a purple orange and green print on a black background. It has wide sleeves and four little buttons. I tucked my shirt in and wore a black scarf with it. I also wore black embellished kitten heels. For jewelry I wore purple dangle earrings. The only problem I had with this outfit was that the shoes were a little slick so I had to be cautious when I was walking down a hill. I think kitten heels are perfect when you know you are going to be walking a lot, but you still want to look dressed up or if a pair of pants are a tiny bit too long for flats but too short for heels, like my green ones. Tomorrow is another Spartan Friday and we are wearing black and blue as we bruise the bulldogs!

The Bomb

It was absolutely freezing this morning. I am pretty sure there was frost on my window.I knew this called for a warm, but fabulous coming out for my fossil brown leather bomber jacket. I could not be more excited to wear it. That jacket is probably one of my favorites if not my favorite piece in my closet. Now for the rest of my outfit. I wore another pair of dark wash wide leg jeans rolled up. When I say I can never get enough of them I mean it, however I did go with Minetonka moccasins today. So comfortable, also something I could live in! Then up top I wore a pale pink poncho shirt with beads at the neck of it. I felt like I needed a dark color to go with my shirt so I also wore a burgundy scarf, which complemented the pale pink nicely. I wore an over sized beanie until I got inside so that my ears would not freeze and fall off. I am a day behind I am going to have to cut it short, but I love love this outfit and I think it gave me some good luck while I was learning to drive stick in my dad's mini!

Plum Perfect

This morning was crazy! I got up thirty minutes late. I do not recall ever being woke up at 6:30 to begin with. Who knows. Not to mention I had absolutely no idea what I was going to wear. I was seriously sprinting around the house in an attempt to be leaving at 7:30. When I am in rushed situations like this I normally cheat a little bit and do one of my biggest fashion secrets, wear an outfit I wore on the weekend that no body saw but my family, or test out an outfit on the weekend before you are at school where nothing can be done to fix something that goes wrong. Today I went with my first option. It was the same basic outfit, just with different jeans and t shirt. I wore dark wash denim wide leg jeans, a basic charcoal v neck, covered with a wide 3/4 sleeve plum wide knit cardigan, a navy, green, and plum scarf, complete with a big navy flower, and black heels. Almost anytime I wear wide leg jeans I wear heels, one style fav I got from Rachel Zoe. At first I was concerned about not being able to see my shoes because my jeans were so wide, but now I do not even think about. It really is not a big deal, and if they are some fabulous shoes, wear them when you will be sitting a lot. I also wore gold jewelery. This afternoon we went car shopping and I have to say I was so impressed by our salesman, Anthony's outfit I was ready to buy it before he started talking, well I was also already in love with the car when I saw it from the road. Just a little tid bit for any car salesmen out there reading, dress nice because it does matter!

Falling for Autumn

This weekend I attended the Autumn Jubilee at Dan Nicholas Park. During the fall there are about three to five festivals I try to go to, and they all really put me and a fall mood. The Autumn Jubilee was my first festival so it really hit me strong, especially with the fresh cool weather coming in. The high was around 70 F. I love warm earthy colors for the autumn season, like forest greens, warm maroons, and deep plums. When I was laying down Sunday night thinking about what I could wear to school Monday I knew it would be something that would scream Fall. Then I thought of the perfect forest green sweater dress. Normally I would wait a little longer until I pulled this piece from the depths of my closet, but I just could not resist this morning. The sweater dress is sleeveless and it has four huge bronze buttons on the chest. I wore a black short sleeve basic tee under it, black tights, it was about 50 this morning, and black peep toe heels. I wore my favorite trench I wrote about in a previous blog, http://stylishsenior.blogspot.com/2010/09/in-trenches-on-thursday.html. As far as accessories go I paired the bronze buttons with a bronze cuff, small gold hoops, and my Nana's emerald and diamond ring. In the past I remember having trouble getting the sweater dress styled right but I can honestly say it was a breeze this morning. Maybe I was just getting the right vibes from mother nature today.

Going All Out

Day 5 of Homecoming Week and it is Friday! We do not have an actual theme other than class color. The Senior's class color is black. Our class t-shirts this year are Tuxedo t-shirts. Then all of our names are on the back in a huge 11 and Stay Classy Central Davidson at the bottom. I think the tuxedo t-shirts were a creative idea and I was happy with the shirts. I think they are the best one's our class has come up with. Even though it is just class color, I still go all out more than normal Spartan Fridays. This Friday I wore my tuxedo t shirt tucked into a gray high waist skirt. A silver sequin belt, a leatherish oversize blazer I got at a vintage shop I am in love with, red pointed kitten heels for a pop, and silver jewelry. The tuxedo shirt is probably the hardest thing I have ever had to style an outfit around but I was really happy with how it all turned out. I would definitely say my tuxedo shirt outfit looked better than with just blue jeans shorts or red soffies. Gross. When we did the pep rally we have about 7 different games and I did changed into white shorts for that. Did not want to flash anybody. For the Homecoming game I wore the suit I wrote about in last Friday's blog, Suits Me http://stylishsenior.blogspot.com/2010/09/suits-me.html. I was worried that my heels were going to sink into the field, but thankfully they did not. I have to say this is by fay the best Homecoming ever, and I love that I know I looked great taking part in it.
